August 2023

Our Ringing Secretary, Ian Nicholson, received notification of our 1000th resighting report for one of 'our' Black-tailed Godwits. It related to a bird ringed at Welwick on the 10th December 2018 and was seen at Snettisham on the 22nd July 2023 having been seen on its breeding grounds in Iceland a month earlier.

Ian also heard of a Redshank ringed by us at Kilnsea Wetland in October 2016 which was also seen in Iceland in June. The same bird had previously been seen in summer 2019 and 2020 at another nearby site in Iceland, and before that it was seen in Brittany in January 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Amazing records!

Details of all our resighted, retrapped and controlled birds can be found in the Members Area.
